Waste minimisation is the role of all members within a community.
At Riverton Primary Campus we believe we have a role in educating our community to use sustainable practices and ensure these practices are embedded across our Campus. We are a WasteSorted accredited school and work hard to minimise our waste.
A group of passionate students called the Green Team work on a variety of sustainable practices including:
- Planting and maintaining the school vegetable patch
- Planting and watering trees and plants across the school on special projects
- Maintaining a recycling station for the community to use.
- Collecting food scraps to make compost for the vegetable garden
Most importantly the Green Team are setting the example of how to be waste wise and educating their peers and families on waste wise practices.
Your Move

Your Move is a school-based program delivered in partnership with the Western Australian Department of Transport, supporting students and families to choose active and sustainable ways of travelling to and from school, such as walking, wheeling and riding. Riverton Primary School has proudly been a member of the Your Move program for over five years and continues to promote active travel within our school and the wider community. Our involvement includes a dedicated Year 4 bike education program that builds students’ bike handling skills, as well as whole school events that promote active travel to our students and community. Through participation in Your Move, we aim to improve student wellbeing, build road safety skills and foster positive lifelong habits that support both personal health and environmental sustainability.
