At Riverton Primary Campus the study of English is central to all children. We believe that a child needs to communicate effectively, have a vivid imagination and become informed citizens. The study of English is a necessary skill for young people to succeed with future education, training and the workplace.

At Riverton Primary Campus we learn to listen to, read, view, speak, write, create and reflect on spoken written and multimodal texts across a range of contexts.

At Riverton Primary Campus we appreciate, enjoy and use the English language to develop a sense of its richness and power to evoke feelings, convey information, form ideas, facilitate interaction with others, entertain, persuade and argue.

At Riverton Primary Campus we understand how Standard Australian English works in its spoken and written form.

At Riverton Primary Campus we show interest in all texts and appreciate literature.

At Riverton Primary Campus we realise that our school is part of a global world where proficiency in English is invaluable. We look at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ contribution to Australian society through its knowledge, traditions and experience and how this has affected contemporary literature. Australia’s links to Asia are also emphasised through exploration of varying literature.
